Challenges Nigerians face in the tech industry

I recently watched a video of Tayo Aina, which was posted about 3-4 days ago and here are my views ๐Ÿ˜‡

As a young man, there are times when you have to make extremely dangerous decisions that would not only benefit you, but also your family and unborn children ๐Ÿ™

Those saying he made money from us (Nigeria) should not forget that he(Tayo Aina) is an international YouTuber who travels the world to make films about different cultures around the globe.

Here are the things I believed he took into consideration before concluding on moving to Lisbon(Portugal).๐Ÿ‘‡

1. Internet speed: For an average Nigerian, the internet speed is ok. But as a computer literate, our systems operate at 4g lite and not even 4g itself. This is a a challenging factor if you are a content creator who deals with 4k videos.

2. High cost of internet services: In Nigeria, data subscriptions are very high and expensive to purchase and also comes with low bandwidths,  therefor making it depressing each time you see 20% remaining from your internet provider๐Ÿ˜“.

3. Security: With his increase in popularity, it would be hard for him to easily navigate around Nigeria without several precautions from his team and this will cost him more money than in overseas๐Ÿ™‡.

4. Electricity: The cost of electricity in Nigeria is high when compared to other countries, before arguing, remember that about 82% of Nigerians don't get up to 24 hours electricity supply yet pay for a month ๐Ÿ˜ช, and get disconnected if they don't ๐Ÿ˜.

4. Purchasing a passport: Purchasing a passport was the best he could do for the growth of his business.  Why?, because Nigerian passport ranks 165 the last time I checked, and this results to him been unable to travel to top tourist attractions with tourist visa without going through hell๐Ÿ˜ remember, even Nas Daily did purchase a foreign passport for same reasons ๐Ÿ˜Š

5. YouTube algorithm: The YouTube algorithm for Africa and Nigeria  in particular is completely different form that of various European countries. Thus making the pay a little bit lower than your fellow counterparts in the western world due to low YouTube subscribers in Africa

6. Air traffic: Due to the distance of Nigeria from major European and Asian countries, it would be beneficial health wise to relocate to a nearby country closer to your needs and with cheaper air cost.

7. FOREX: Due to the rapid fall of naira, it would be wrong to say he made a big mistake, because he earns in dollars and spends in both naira and dollars while also managing his ads and various businesses form the same source of income ๐Ÿ˜“

8. Family life: Tayo Aina is probably at the age of 32, thus living room for family life, and with the current state of Nigeria, not all parents would want to stay in Nigeria as young couples due various reasons.

Truth been told, it's so sad to see the economy of our great nation in shambles, this alone is enough to bring increase in depression to the citizens of our great country, and if care isn't taken, the "Giant Of Africa" may sink. This is one of the major reasons Nigerians and her residents flee for greanner pastures outside Nigeria and Africa. I pray that we (Nigerians) recover from this moment and then transform our country to a great nation better than it once was ๐ŸŒž

Note: Investing in Nigeria in 2024/2025, is good but need a thorough analytical plan to back the investment, and this isn't easy for private sectors and startups that demands high technological assets to carry out.

Invest in Nigeria, but invest wisely and not because you have the money, take out time to research on skill sets and the job market in Nigeria before investing in any business idea.

May God bless Nigeria ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ
